Last Day: Eating Some Crow (is that Plant-Based...?)
I’ll always be a skeptic
…and it’s time to tell the truth about this PB journey. Heidi & I just completed 22 straight days of eating nothing but plants and plant-based food. Nothing processed. No meat. No milk or ice cream. No meat. No eggs or cheese. Did I mention, no meat? I want to close this journey by telling you where I was wrong, where I was right, what I’m thankful for, where to next...and most importantly, why you should care.
Day 15: Two weeks in (& my weight)
A Whole week on Whole Foods. So…?
As we began this thing, we read a number of promises of eating PB.
After 15 days, how do these promises compare to my real life? Let’s do a quick review. And, see if I lost weight.
Day 11: What kind of an Eater are you?
Eating: Know your Options
Pop quiz: Which is the most restrictive way to eat?
Vegan
Vegetarian
Gluten free
Plant-based
Meat, whenever you want
When it comes to understanding ways of eating, it can be confusing!
I’m here today to shed a little light on this bewildering topic. First, a caveat:
Day 8: ‘Sup so far (& my weight)
A Whole week on Whole Foods. So…?
As we began this thing, we read a number of promises of eating PB.
After seven days, how do these promises compare to my real life? Let’s do a quick review. And, see if I lost weight.
Day 7: The Freedom of Limits
I’ve been thinking about how much is “enough.”
We Americans love our freedom. We hate being told No. We thrive on options. If something is good…then more is even better! But, as Bono says in a U2 song,
“This freedom, it might cost you your liberty.”
This final day of the first week gave me a really nice gift, and it was experiencing some food liberty.
Day 6: Breakin' the law, Breakin' the law!
I had craft brew last night,
and I’m glad.
This 22 Day Challenge asks that you refrain from alcohol in addition to all the other joys of food that I am used to. Last night I chose to break the law, and I make no apologies.
Why?
Friends over Fuel.
Day 5: How to make PB dining out better.
As Kevin Costner said in The Untouchables,
“I have become what I beheld…”
I have become what I beheld and I am NOT proud of it.
I beheld the “surly Vegans,” I mocked them, and lo and behold, I became a surly Vegan myself yesterday.
I beheld “superior Vegans,” and there I was, announcing to the restaurant that I was on a PB challenge. Well, la de freakin’ dah, Mike.
Day 4: I will never dine out again.
My first business lunch was as bad as I imagined.
I am so disappointed. And mad. And discouraged.
I had lunch with my good friend Jeff today. As we began to catch up on life, I picked up the menu.
It was an orgy of meat words.
Burgers! Pork! Steak! Chicken! Ribs! All for you, Mike! All for you.
Day 1: Here’s Me Being Honest
This is where I tell you my deepest, darkest fears (and pet peeves) as we begin our 22 days of PB
I am a Skeptic. And Proud of it.
I feel the need to assure you, dear Reader, that I am not a Vegetarian, Vegan, Pescatarian, Flexitarian or any other kind of -Atarian when it comes to food.
Here are the things I love:
Milk. (And it’s kinda silly to call anything from an almond or bean “milk,” isn’t it?
