Day 2: Not. A. Taco.

Walnut “tacos” with lettuce., avocados & tomatoes

You can’t make something be something
just by calling it something.

A dog is a dog. A horse is a horse (of course.). And a taco is a shell (flour or corn; hard or soft), filled with meat (hamburger, steak, fish, etc.), cheese (your choice!), and then some vegetables (if you want them).

Look at the picture above. Just because the author of the book we’re following named that “a taco” does not make it so. It’s what we had for dinner tonight.

Heidi worked very hard on it. And I’m not saying it was bad. It was…pretty interesting, actually. And fairly tasty, to be honest. But a piece of lettuce and some crushed nuts and spices is NOT a taco. Repeat: Not. A. Taco.

One of my biggest complaints about PB diets

…is this ridiculous attempt to fool me into thinking a…food made of vegetables…is a brownie, or ice cream, or a steak. Or a taco.

But I promised to have an open mind, and I need to focus on the positives here. I promise to overlook the silliness (and lies! Outright lies! Sorry.)…I promise to try to ignore the…creative naming of PB foods for the next 21 days. It’s only gonna help me, really. If I don’t compare the food we just ate to…you know…then I can learn to appreciate it for it’s own merits.

So my First Rule: Don’t compare. Appreciate.

Appreciate the new flavors for what they are; don’t look back on what I’m missing. It’s not fair to the new food I’m trying. I want to evaluate it on its own merits, not what it’s trying to be.

And it was really not bad! Crunchy, for sure. And some interesting new smells and flavors. Definitely worth trying.

Day 1? It’s a wrap.

A lettuce wrap. Not. A. Taco.

Join us! Something you can do right now:

  • Try eating plants-only for one day. How about tomorrow?

  • If you do…let us know how it went.

  • What are some of the most…”creative” PB food names you’ve heard or tasted?

What is this?

I’m Mike. My wife & I are trying something called a “22 Day PB Food Challenge.” I’m the skeptic trying to see if it can work for me as a lifestyle.
