The Writer's Group
Where is Heidi on most Wednesday nights? You'd find me at The Writer's Group held at the local library. This is where I've been reading a section of KazMainea each week for over a year and a half.
The group provides invaluable outside perspective. Suggestions on rephrasing, restructuring, grammar changes, etc. are offered. Some nights there are minimal suggestions and I leave upbeat and satisfied. Other nights there are many suggestions. When this happens, I leave slightly disappointed, with a slight headache. There's more work to be done.
I'm tired by the end of a day. Staying home is enticing. But I'm confident the Writer's Group will ultimately create a better KazMainea and a better me. I get to hear and have input in other's writings and they in turn hear and have input on mine. It is a community of writers. I'm glad I went! And, tonight was a good night, minimal suggestions!
