i mean it this time

What would it look like if you had no understanding of God, no basis of faith, and no one to tell you what to believe - and then you were handed a Bible? What would you come to believe as truth? How would you decide to build your life?

Free to come to any conclusion, I wonder if it would look anything like Christianity today. I have a feeling mine would be very different.

We grow up believing what our parents, pastors, friends, and family believe and at some point we either decide to embrace our faith as our own or turn away from it. I think we're missing a very important step in this equation - what happened to the part where we were given permission to truly discover what we believe and don't believe? The step where we mold our faith into what is true and real and meaningful to us. Oh, you never did that? Well then guess what. You're still living in a faith that doesn't belong to you.

And let me let you in on a little secret - you don't need permission.

So go ahead. Ask the questions, explore opportunities, engage in a dialogue and engage in action.

I can almost guarantee you that once you do this, you'll come back to God.

But this time you'll mean it.
