Skyping w/ Emily

Had a great kickoff Skype with Emily in South America today (In the picture, you see Emily on screen, Heidi, and Bill, from our partnering foundation. You can see a sliver of my head as well.)

Purpose of the call was to discuss our report and Script proposal, which we submitted after our return from Ecuador last month. In the course of a very enjoyable call, we agreed to move forward with our concept. Our next step is to write the script for the Story video and the Space curriculum, so that when I return to Ecuador next month, I can shoot all the video we need for both.

It’s a great time to be doing international work. With the internet, Skype, email, texting…so much can get done without travel. And when travel IS necessary, it’s effective as a result. And, I have to admit, I get a kick out of the fact that I am talking–and seeing–someone who is halfway around the world…and for free!

Great start to our project! It’s exciting to look ahead and think of how many children and families in poverty that will get a little closer to Good as a result of this call today.
